What is a forex payment gateway?

A forex payment gateway is a payment service provider that processes client deposits and withdrawals for forex and CFD brokers. Because trading is classed as high-risk, mainstream gateways rarely onboard brokers, so brokers use specialist PSPs and acquirers that understand financial services regulation.

Providers look first at your regulator. A CySEC or FCA-regulated broker has a much wider choice than an offshore broker, and some PSPs only serve clients in the countries your licence covers. Brokers also need fast, reliable withdrawals back to the original payment method, multi-currency settlement and the ability to add local methods as they enter new regions.

What providers check before onboarding you

  • Regulator and licence (CySEC, FCA, ASIC, FSCA, FSC Mauritius, FSA Seychelles)
  • Client countries and whether your licence lets you onboard them
  • Client KYC, AML and appropriateness checks
  • Deposit volume, average deposit and withdrawal ratio
  • Chargeback and dispute history, especially "investment loss" claims
  • Marketing practices, introducing brokers and affiliates

We collect all of this once and send each provider exactly what its underwriting team needs.

We do not place brokers that onboard clients in India. Indian residents may only trade permitted INR currency pairs on recognised Indian exchanges, and the RBI lists unauthorised forex trading platforms.

Common Forex payment problems, and how we fix them

Chargebacks after losses

Clients who lose money sometimes dispute deposits. Clear terms, strong KYC and descriptor clarity keep ratios down.

Withdrawals stuck

Slow or failed withdrawals damage trust fast. Providers differ in payout rails, refund-to-source rules and speed.

Offshore licence limits

Offshore-regulated brokers have fewer options. Matching to providers that accept your regulator saves weeks of rejections.

Forex payment provider FAQs

Which payment gateways accept forex brokers?

Specialist high-risk PSPs and acquirers that serve financial services accept forex and CFD brokers. Which ones fit depends mainly on your regulator, your client countries and your volume. Approvd matches you with providers that already process brokers with a similar profile.

Can an offshore-regulated forex broker get a payment provider?

Yes, but the choice is narrower. Brokers regulated in places such as Seychelles, Mauritius or St Vincent usually work with providers that accept offshore licences, often with higher fees or a rolling reserve, and only for certain client countries.

Why do forex brokers get high chargebacks?

Some clients dispute card deposits after trading losses, claiming the service was not as described. Brokers reduce this with clear risk warnings, strong client KYC, recognisable billing descriptors, 3-D Secure and quick, transparent withdrawals.

Do forex PSPs handle client withdrawals?

Most forex PSPs support withdrawals, usually back to the original payment method first. Check payout coverage per country and method, and the time it takes for funds to reach clients.

Can prop trading firms use the same payment providers as brokers?

Often, but not always. Prop firms sell challenges and pay out traders rather than holding client funds, so some providers classify them differently. Tell us your model and we match you with providers that accept prop trading.

Can forex brokers settle in USDT?

Some providers offer settlement in USDT or USDC alongside EUR and USD. Tell us your preferred settlement currency and we will only match you with providers that support it.
